This training introduces the Axtension® Project Controlling solution.
This project controlling solution provides a comprehensive, integrated approach to project budgeting and cost tracking, allowing teams to manage and deliver projects efficiently. It pulls together data relevant to your projects from across your organization to generate real-time earned value management analyses.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this training, you should be able to:
- Understand the key benefits of the Axtension® Project Controlling solution within Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Identify the additional functionalities provided by the solution on top of standard Dynamics 365.
- Explain the role and structure of Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) in project budgeting.
- Navigate and create cost control budgets, including period splits for cost and revenue.
- Create and analyze progress and estimate data snapshots for earned value management.
- Utilize reporting data to assess project performance, including margin and revenue tracking.
- Apply and manage budget changes using adjustment requests and change management workflows.
- Understand the core principles and terminology of Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Calculate progress using both financial and physical Percentage of Completion.
- Analyze project performance using Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI).
- Understand the different types of costs related to production orders and purchase orders (soft-committed, hard-committed, and actuals).
- Manage committed costs within production and purchase orders.
- Process purchase orders and track the transition of costs.
- Set progress percentages in the progress and estimate data set.
- Configure cost control parameters for managing committed costs.
- Convert item requirements into purchase orders and track costs evolution.
- Understand how to create and manage item requirements with the WBS.
- Track costs as they evolve from non-committed to committed and actual costs.
- Use the WBS for project cost management.
- Calculate project progress based on actual costs.
