Microsoft retired the MB-300 Core exam on February 28, 2024.

Microsoft has announced upcoming changes to the English language versions of the following exams:

• MB-310 Finance (will be updated on March 29, 2024)
• MB-700 Microsoft Dynamics 365: Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect (will be updated on March 18, 2024.)

Microsoft retired the Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Commerce Functional Consultant Associate certification and its required Exam MB-340 as of June 30, 2023.

• New exam: MB-335 Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Expert (beta)
  • No learning paths are available yet.
• New certification: Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Expert
  • Requires two exams: MB-330 and the new MB-335. Notably, not MB-300!
• MB-320 SCM, Manufacturing due to retire “in early 2023”.

Announced May 2021:

New exam coming:  Exam MB-340 Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce Functional Consultant (beta) (in June/July).

This exam measures your ability to accomplish the following technical tasks:

• configure Dynamics 365 Commerce Headquarters
• configure products, prices, discounts, loyalty, and affiliations
• manage Point of Sales (POS) in Dynamics 365 Commerce
• configure and manage Dynamics 365 Commerce call centers
• manage e-commerce.

Announced April 2021:

MB-920: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Fundamentals Finance and Operations Apps (ERP) is finally out of beta. Read more about MB-920 Fundamentals here.

Microsoft announced that Exam MB-500: Microsoft Dynamics 365: Finance and Operations Apps Developer. “Skills measured” was updated on April 2. Not much of a change, if you read the Skills measured.  Apart from name updates, I just noted these significant changes (additions in bold):

• Added:
  • Create extension models
  • Branch and merge code
  • Implement the global cache
  • Capture traces by using TraceParser and analyze traces
• Changed
  • Implement Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Lifecycle Services (LCS)
  • Select an appropriate data integration capabilities API
  • Identify differences between synchronous vs. asynchronous scenarios patterns
  • Diagnose and optimize client performance by using browser-based tools Microsoft Edge
    F12 Developer tools, Fiddler, and other common tools
• Removed
  • Create overlayered and extension models
  • Configure the DevOps source control process
  • Describe the capabilities of the Electronic reporting (ER) tool

Exam MB-700 updated

Microsoft announced that Exam MB-700: Microsoft Dynamics 365: Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect is updated – from March 17th!

Not much of a change, if you read the Skills measured; apart from a small group name change and things being moved around, I just noted significant changes in

• 1.3 Define compliance requirements: Deemphasized in the new exam. No specific objective
• 1.4 Define security requirements: Security topics expanded in the new study guide
• 3.3. Define a testing strategy: Testing topics expanded in this study guide

The name change? Vanity, I guess: From “1.0 Identify solution requirements” to “1.0 Architect solution”.

Beta date announced: Exam PL-600: Microsoft Power Platform Solution Architect (beta).

This exam will be available on March 17,  2021, and is part of the requirements for the new certification: Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert.

Announced December 2020:

Big changes to Microsoft's certification expiration policy affect D365FO staff

Microsoft has introduced a new certification expiry policy that will affect all certified D365FO staff (and more) from June 2021.

Instead of certifications being valid until a new version of the product (and then normally some additional “grace years”), new certifications will now expire after just one year. And current certifications will expire, too!

Exam MB-920: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Fundamentals Finance and Operations Apps (ERP) is announced to be available in beta in February 2021. Read more about MB-920 Fundamentals here

Announced October 2020:

New exam MB-920 Dynamics 365 Fundamentals: Finance and Operations apps (ERP) Fundamentals (to be released 2021, Q1). This exam will – for the FO parts – replace the “Swiss Army Knife” exam MB-901, which will be retired March 31, 2021.

A: “Yes, indeed. The replacement for MB6-894 is MB-500 Apps Developer. The replacement for MB6-897 is MB-340 Commerce. ”
